We have a new bishop!

Pope Francis today appointed Most Reverend John O. Barres to serve as the fifth Bishop of Rockville Centre.  Up until today, he was serving as Bishop of the Diocese of Allentown, PA.   Bishop-designate Barres will assume leadership of the Diocese during a Mass of Installation at St. Agnes Cathedral on January 31, 2017 at 2PM.  Until that time, Bishop Murphy will serve as Apostolic Administrator.

Bishop-designate Barres will be introduced to his new diocese when he concelebrates Mass this morning with Bishop Murphy at St. Agnes Cathedral at 7:45 AM.  This mass will air at 8:30 AM on Telecare TV and stream at the same time on telecaretv.org.  At 10:30 AM, Bishops Murphy and Barres will appear on Telecare’s news program, “Everyday Faith Live,” which airs live and will stream also at telecaretv.org.
